Introduction

I’ve had this idea storming around in mind for a while, to create a blog with information others could find useful. I mean, I didn’t know about some of the resources available to us as online students for what seemed like was forever. Since I have begun my classes at Full Sail, I have felt like I have learned a lot about what it takes to do online classes and I am still learning. Some may say it is easy, some may say it is hard but everyone learns their own way, it’s different to everyone. So after realizing how long it took me to find all these amazing services, I thought about the other students, who maybe didn’t know, or who maybe had a question, or who was even looking for advice from other who have experienced it.

I’m going to be sharing as much as I can about experiences that I’ve been through as an online college student; this is my very first time being in college. I enrolled right after I graduated high school. This has been very different for me and I really like taking online classes, but sometimes it was difficult for me. But I have figured out why. It’s because I made it difficult for myself. I knew what I was doing wrong but I fixed it. The main thing was not having a schedule, which is really important or using the services provided to us by our school, they are amazing and I just can’t get over how long it took me to realize it. There is so much I want to share about how to be more successful when taking online classes.

I am going to let you know, this is my very first blog. Ever. I’m not really sure if there is a specific way to do them (probably not, maybe?). But I’m just going to go with what I feel I should say. If there is anyone who has any suggestions or comments, feel free to say something please! I’m really looking forward to see how this goes and I really hope I will be able to help others.

Best,
Brandi

  1. Hey Brandi! I really appreciate the fact that you are writing about your experiences being an online student at FSU. I am also in the same boat as you because I also enrolled in Full Sail right out of high school and it was definitely not an easy road at first. Learning to manage my time was the most important and I really learned a lot since I have been a student at Full Sail. I can't wait to read your other posts!

  2. Let me be more clear on this comment.
I like the way you sign off on your blog posts, “Best Brandi.” It makes your blog more personable and would make someone want to interact with you on a personal level. I would feel comfortable leaving a comment on your page because it is not just a mass generic post you have on your blog. I also started Full Sail University after high school and reading your blog I was able to relate to your post. Have you posted this on your Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media sites to get more followers? The Johnny Cupcake brand has a Twitter and that would be perfect for you as well. To post short motivational tips like you have on your blog. I would imagine they are about the same age as you and may be curious about online school. Even if they are going to a brick and mortar school, they offer online classes as well. This blog would help them make it through online classes. Overall, I hope you keep this blog going, even after class is over.

  3. Hi Fatima,

It’s nice to hear that you started right after high school. How has your experience been so far? I haven’t posted my blog on other media sites or tried to promote my blog because I haven’t had the time to sit here and write out my posts, I want to make them meaningful. But I think in the future I will promote.

Thanks so much for your thoughts and kind words, they make me want to work harder! I like the twitter suggestions you mentioned and I am really going to consider doing that. I want to keep this blog going and I hope you come back again; I would love to hear more of your thoughts.

    Thanks so much Fatima!

    Best,
    Brandi
