Something From Me

As you may have read from my introduction post, I want to show other online students the best way to be successful, from my point of view. But I want to let you know why. I have been enrolled as an online student for about a year and half now, there has been a lot I have learned and not just from the classes but from my mistakes. I will admit that I have failed and the feeling is something I can’t stand whenever I think about it. I want to let others know who may be going through the same, sometimes online classes are difficult and it’s true they are not for everyone. And everyone handles it differently so I don’t want to hear about how easy it is. But it all depends on how you do it. No one should expect it to be easy because it is a lot of hard work. I would just give up and try not to think about what I didn’t hand in, I wouldn’t try to work with my instructor to find a solution but that was my own fault. For not treating it seriously. I mean I am spending a lot of money going to this school, as I would any other college, but I truly am so happy with my choice. It took me a while to realize I was wasting my time but thanks to a certain instructor, she made me realize that I can’t think I can just breeze by these classes like it’s high school. This is not high school what so ever. This is my career and I want to be successful. Although I wish I would have realized this earlier, what I can do now but try to make it better for the future. I am disappointed in myself but that pushes me. No one is perfect and sometimes, you have fail to get back up again. Just never give up. If you really want to do something, you have to put everything you have into it. And there is always someone to help.

Best,
Brandi

  1. Hello Brandi,

I appreciate your blog and your positive words for us to absorb and understand that we cannot give up. I do wish you the best and hope you achieve all of your goals.

That being said I do have a question as to your purpose of your blog. Are you looking to use your blog as a motivational tool? If so, who is your target market? I am just curious since I for one read a lot of books relating to personal success; financial intelligence, and also fitness.

Have you done your research on what message you want to convey?

    Thank you for your post.

    1. Hi Joe,

Thank you for taking the time and consideration to read my post and leave me feedback, it means a lot!

I want my blog’s purpose to be a tool for other online students, as well as being motivational. I want to share my experiences as an online student to other online students, whether they attend Full Sail or a different online schooling program.

This is my first blog I have ever done and now that you ask me what message I want to convey, I suppose I do not have one single message. I want others to know that it’s not easy, but it’s not hard, it’s all about yourself and how you take it. Do you have any advice for me relating to what tools I could use, books to read, or anything to better my blog?

Thank you so very much for your comment and questions!

      Brandi

  2. Brandi,

I know how difficult it is to attend an online school as well. You are absolutely correct in saying that it is not for everyone. For me, I prefer online for traditional schooling I am not able to attend due to my current lifestyle. For those who attend online schools, most have families and jobs that they must work around. This brings about as struggle all within itself but with determination, it can be accomplished.

It is a wonderful things that you have learned how to cope and push yourself through schooling. It is equally important to communicate with the instructors to keep them informed as to what is going on with you. They are actually understanding individuals.

Do you know what career path you plan to follow? Or are you in the field of your choice now? I hope you continue until the end to obtain your degree!

    1. Hi Lakeisha,

I prefer online over traditional as well. Though there are benefits of being a traditional student and being on campus, online students can have the same benefits if they push themselves to succeed. As on online student, you really have to go way out of your comfort zone. I choose online because I didn’t want to do the traditional route, plus I found that it worked well with my lifestyle, as it has done for you.

The instructors, FSO support team and class advisors are all great individuals who are there for you for anything you may need, questions, and advice, seriously anything!

For my career path, I want to some day become a film producer. Currently I am working with some other Full Sail students on a mini-web series called Western Heights. Feel free to check out our Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/westernheights2014. I was able to help them a few weeks ago as a production assistant, that gave me some good experience; I was recently assigned as the co-assistant producer. Thanks to these great people, they have allowed me to be a part of their team.

I wish you the best of luck in your future. I hope you come back and visit again, share your thoughts, and I hope we are able to talk again soon!

Thank you so much for your kind works and for taking the time to share your thoughts with me!

  3. Brandi,

I really enjoyed reading your blog post and both of us mentioned that we have to fall and jump back up and learn from our mistakes. I happen to be going through that same failing classes mode and I'm doing everything i can but not sure how to make it better. People like you make me want to be a better student and learn from my mistakes. It is not high school they don't give extra credit or let you retake a test.

This has helped me out immensely and thank you so much for inspiring me to do better in school. Im just curious though What do you want to do as a career? Why did you choose that as a career? who inspired you to chose that career path?

Have a wonderful rest of school
    Good Luck and Best Wishes

    1. Hi Hannah,

Anytime you need to talk or anything, please feel free to contact me. I will do the same, if that is ok with you. We both know what it’s like to fall and get back up again, it’s hard but we both know what it’s like. We can push each other to keep going and work harder! We can’t give up, no matter if that voice inside our heads is telling us it’s easier to just forget about it. Without focusing on too much, we need to make our bodies do the actions. What I like to do is work on something for a little, take a break and then come back to it and continue. Sometimes just sitting there and continuously working makes me irritated. We just have to remember our goals and dreams, remember what we came to accomplish!

If there is anything at all I can do, do not hesitate to contact me! ☺

As for my career, I want to be a film producer, it’s going to take me a while, I need to learn a lot more, and I will need a lot of experience but I am ready for the journey. I may not be successful at first, but I will continue on and learn from my mistakes.

My fiancé and my love for movies have inspired me to take this path. I want to produce films because I like all the components and steps it takes to complete the project. Honestly though I still need to do some research because I just recently found out that this is the path I want to take. What about you?

Thank you so much for sharing your personal struggles and thoughts with me, your message was truly inspiring and I hope we are able to stay in contact! Seriously. ☺

Best of luck with everything Hannah.

      Brandi

  4. Hi Brandi,

You've been able to put into words how I've felt about success for many years. It's a long road, and one that requires so much hard work, and it really does get difficult sometimes when you become overwhelmed with the multitude of things all happening at once. Thankfully, being part of an online schooling program allows for a certain room to breathe as it were, by removing the mandatory physical appearance in classrooms, but losing that means gaining and developing your discipline for your studies and the advancement in the programs.

You seem to have figured out the right formula for the recipe for success.

    Best Wishes,

    Evan Amzuri

    1. Hello Evan,

Thank you for taking the time to share you thoughts with me. I really enjoy hearing what others have to say. I agree with you completely when you mentioned that online schooling programs allow room to breathe but by not having physical classrooms, you have to develop good discipline to advance. Without that, I firmly believe you won’t be able to succeed. You might, but you will always be a behind.

Thanks again for your insight Evan! I hope you visit again in the future.

      Best,
      Brandi
